The second round of Lausitz Cup which took place within 24 Rajd Karkonoski is over. Some time has passed, so it is a high time for the summary of the rally and drivers' standings after the rally. Generally, 24 crews from Poland, Czech Republic and Germany were classified in the second round of Lausitz Cup.
The winners of this year's Rajd Karkonoski were Frank Richert and Matthias Prillwitz in a legendary rally car – Ford Escort Cosworth. They left Jelenia Góra with all points for the victories in general classification of Lausitz Cup and in group 5.
The second to score were Germans in Audi TT, just 0.2 second behind the winners! Such a slight time distance in a total time of the rally occurs rarely and is evidence of an even contest. Enrico Brühl with Daniel Ellmer drove their Mitsubishi Lancer EVO V onto the final stage of the podium and scored 15 points in general classification and the same points in a group classification.
During absence of the leader of general classification - Radek Mifka, the best Czech driver was Vaclav Donat with an experiences co driver Honza Krecman – who is also known DIRECTOR of Thermica Rally. Donat and Krecman gained a hard-won victory in a numerous group 4 and took 4th place in general classification.
The superstars of the first special stage were Teodor Stolarek with Agnieszka Moskal. Driving an old Suzuki Swift they were the authors of the second result at the stage, just 0.5 seconds behind he winner! As the average speed at the stage was about 90 kph, we can see that the elder Swift does a good job.
Luck was not with our pretender to victory. Both Abram and Tomek Trembicki did not cross the finish line. They both brought Lancers in OPEN specification which augured fight for victory. Unfortunately, Tomek retired at stage 1 and at stage 4, after winning Dziwiszów 1 and Bobrów 1.
The fastest Polish crew in Lausitz Cup round in Karkonosze were frequenters of the cup – Lukasz Ryznar and Michal Jucewicz Opel Kadett . They took 5th place in general classification of the rally and the second step of the podium in group 4, right behind Vaclav Donat.
The rally was another success for the winners of group 3 – Michal Kochanowski-Laren and Marcin Celinski in Citroen C2 VTS. They managed to repeat their success from Thermica Luzicke hory and they are the class leaders in group 3 in Lausitz Cup. However, Olek Jaroszewicz i Pawel Tarapacki tread on their rear bumper. The crew in a joyful Peugeot 206, just like in Czech rally, took 2nd place in group 3 and they are second in the classification with 34 points. The third position in the cup standings belongs to Przemek Obajtek and Jakub Wróbel in Honda Civic (30 points). We will know the champion of Lausitz Cup in group 3 at the finish line of Lausitz Rally in Germany.
After two rounds of Lausitz Cup the leader in group 4 are the above mentioned Vaclav Donat and Honza Krecman – 40 points, the second in the standings are Klaus Teichmann / Gunter Friedmann – Nissan Almera Kit – 21 pts. and the third are Slawomir i Krzysztof Kurdys – Renault Clio – 18 pts. Mark Muschol with Claudia Harloff were late at the 1st PKC by more than 9 minutes and got 1 minute and 30 seconds penalty, while they drove about 10th place.
Among 4 crew not classified in the 1st round of Lausitz Cup it is vital to mention Lukasz Ryznar i Michal Jucewicz – Opel Kadett – 17 pts., a family duet of Andrzej i Blazej Czekan – Honda Civic – 15 pts., Krzysztof Zelek i Michal Kasina – Renault Clio – 10 pts.
In group 2, Krystian Jiri and Martin Wrzala in a historic Skoda 110L Rallye took the upper hand over Ronny Teichmann in Nissan Micra Ronny scored 17 points and has 32 points in the standings of Lausitz Cup. The other crews in group 2 were Czech Zdenek Vaclavik i Petr Brixy driving Skoda Felicia, Tomasz Michalski and Lech Kaczmarek – Suzuki Swift and Bogumil Klimiuk with Marek Kaczmarek – Nissan Micra.
The longed-for rally cars were those in group 1, with engines up to 1000ccm. Among them we could admire gems of the past époques – a duel „Maluch” vs „Trabi”. A pretty big difference in horsepower - about 40 against 75 KM – makes the fight more difficult. Eventually, Wolski brothers took 2nd place in the group and outdistanced 2 Trabants! A great success of those old rally cars was reaching the finish line, especially which many new and technically advanced car retired by each special stage. The winners of group 1 were Thomas Grimm/Daniel Erhardt – Trabant P601 – 20 pts, 2. Marcin i Marek Wolscy – Fiat 126p – 17 pts, 3. Rafael Eckl / Jens Krajewski – Trabant P 601 – 15 pts., 4. Martin Christ / Timo Krajewski – Trabant P 601 – 12 pts
After the second round there is a slight, one-point difference in standings between Marcin with Marek Wolski and Rafael Eckel and Jense Krajewski.
